Self-generated flux in Josephson junctions with alternating critical current density
نویسنده
چکیده
We study an interesting state with a self-generated magnetic flux in a long Josephson junction. The critical current density j c is assumed to alternate randomly along the tunnel contact on a length scale much less than the local Josephson penetration depth. The phase difference is then a sum of an alternating term and a smooth term which self-consistently contribute to the formation of a stationary state with self-generated flux. Two types of Josephson vortices are found in this state, one with magnetic flux F1,F0/2 and another one with magnetic flux F25F02F1.F0/2. @S0163-1829~98!50306-2#

Josephson vortices with fractional flux quanta at YBa2Cu3O7Àx grain boundaries
We report numerical simulations of magnetic flux patterns in asymmetric 45° @001#-tilt grain boundaries in YBa2Cu3O72x superconducting films. The grain boundaries are treated as Josephson junctions with a critical current density j c(x) alternating rapidly along the junctions with a typical length scale which is much less than Josephson penetration depth. We demonstrate the existence of Josephs...
متن کاملNonlocal electrodynamics of Josephson junctions in thin films and fractional vortices
The phase difference φ across a Josephson junction is considered for a film with a thickness d λ, where λ is the London penetration depth in the superconducting banks. Special attention is given to the case of a critical current density jc varying along the junction. It is shown that a nonlinear integro-differential equation determines the spatial distribution of φ for d λ. Josephson properties...
متن کاملEffect of variation of facets size on fractional flux vortices at asymmetric grain boundaries in YBCO films
We consider numerically unquantized Josephson vortices at asymmetric grain boundaries in YBCO films. The study is focused on the effect of random variations of facets size on the values of fractional flux carried by these vortices. The grain boundaries are treated as Josephson junctions with a critical current density alternating along the junctions with a typical length-scale of order of the f...
متن کاملDelayed pulses from high-transparency Josephson junctions
Calculations of the shape and the timing of single-magnetic-flux quanta ~SFQs! generated by high-current-density ‘‘self-shunted’’ Josephson junctions are presented. The junction current is assumed to be due in part to multiple Andreev reflections within the high-transparency barrier. The SFQ pulses from these junctions show several differences when compared to those from lower-current-density r...
متن کاملRSFQ DC to SFQ Converter with Reduced Josephson Current Density
In this paper we consider the Rapid Single-Flux Quantum (RSFQ) circuits with reduced Josephson current density and especially deal with one of the basic building blocks of these electronics the DC to SFQ converter. For future promising RSFQ applications the critical current of the Josephson junctions should be reduced (by reduction of Josephson current density) to several μA, resulting into val...
